Fashion Week has finally begun. Cynthia Rowley's show was on Monday. It was rough, I gotta say, being an intern is not for the weak. I was at the studio until 12 a.m. on Friday, returned at 9 a.m. on Saturday, and again on Sunday, and back Monday at 9 a.m. day of show. Monday was insanity, we were sewing, and picking, and I was polishing boots, and getting model cards ready, but then before I knew it, we were at the Jane Hotel and the show was starting! Everything looked beautiful, and the hard work really paid off. Here are some of my favorite looks that I helped in one way or another to put together - whether it be doing some hand sewing, helping to swatch the fabric ideas, hand sewing the beading on the tights, etc. I did a little bit of everything. After it all we ended it with a really swanky after party at The Gold Bar.
Now I have to start really crankin it out at school. I have finalized my design for my senior exhibition, and now we start to drape the muslan, (pattern) for it. I will upload my sketch and fabric swatches soon, I think it would be cool to track my progress on here. The Senior Exhibition is a show for 4th semester students. Only a select few are chosen to be in the show, which is in the D building of our school, where the chosen garments are on display for the public to view. Each year there is a new "theme" or designer inspiration that we have to follow. I think I mentioned before that ours is Versace. Gianni, not Donetella. So there is going to be a lot of color in that room, the 90's are coming back. Although I was super apprehensive in the beginning, I'm really starting to get into it more. Marc Jacob's Fall collection really kinda pounded it home to me that the 80's/early 90's can indeed be sheek if you do it right!
